Why has my 4 year old start to bite everything?

Hello, I cant really seem to find an answer for my question. My son started teething around 1, we gave me a pacifier until about 6 months old or maybe even a year, he got off of the bottle at 2 years old and all of a sudden at about 4 and a half years old he started to bite everything that can fit into his mouth. He doesnt chew on it and want to eat it, he just wants to bite it. And would like to find out why. He hasn't had the urge to bite anything once he got off of his pacifier until recently at about 4 and a half. And I read kids really dont teeth until about 6 years old or so. Do you have an answer to why? Thanks concerned parent.
