Thank you for your post. It is never nice to see our children going through a separation, especially when there are young kids involved. 

In terms of how to help, just being there for your son and his family can go a long way. By being there, this could include offering a shoulder to cry on, listening, offering words of encouragement, offering to help out with the kids.
