Hi @Katherine ,
Welcome to the forums! We're primarily for young people aged 12-25 but there's a few great organisations that should be able to help you out with support.
Autism Spectrum Australia (ASPECT) offer a range of services across NSW, and are NSW's peak body for autism. Their services include early intervention services for young kids, assessment and treatment/ other programs across the lifespan. You may already be familiar with them, but if not they have a huge amount of information on their website, and a 1800 number you can call directly to get more information.
Autism Connect is a national helpline, email and webchat service that gives information, advice and service referrals, you can reach them Monday - Friday, 8am - 7pm on 1300 308 699
Autism Advisory and Supoort Service (AASS) is a non profit group for families of children with autism, depending on where you're located they also offer services like a supported playgroup with a speech pathologist, occupational therapist and psychologist
Autism.. What Next? Is a resource that's being developed at the moment which is meant ot be launched in the next few months, I thought it might be worth mentioning as it sounds like it could be useful for you and your family - it will be a digital toolkit to help individuals and families to navigate their first year after diagnosis.
Autism Awareness Australia also have a lot of information for parents and carers.
Lastly, the Raising Childrens Network have a great guide to different types of therapies and supports for autistic children, and they also have a great and clear resource on how to access the NDIS early intervention support, if you haven't done that already. You can call the NDIA (National Disablility Insurance Agency on 1800 800 110), they can help you to take the next steps to met with an early childhood partner. This site also has links for how to find Early Childhood Early Intervention services in your area- they provide early intervention services that are funded by the government for kids aged 0-6 years.
I hope that some of that is helpful - I can also have a look at more support services for parents, if that's what you are after. Wishing you all the best!
