Re: Does Your Family Have its Own Terminologies?

Haha @taokat Sometimes I say to my kids "did that eye roll hurt?"

And @motherbear Those are great! When I worked at a rehab, years ago, we used to say "How's that working for you?" A lot. It's quite a powerful reflection tool.

Grandchildrens favourite when one of the siblings decides to add his comment they would either say..
Na nia business or "who said you could add your 10cents worth"

Thanks for adding Mustobeytions @motherbear. It's a beauty. Yep, gotta change the wording of the tape to be empowering and positive!

How's that working for you is another beauty. It really does make you think about what you're doing!

I'm going to ask if my daughter's eyes hurt next time she does it @Ngaio-RO!

@Serapis22 I had a giggle at your phrases too - brings back memories from growing up with my brother!

Re: Does Your Family Have its Own Terminologies?

@Ngaio-RO, reading your 'did that eye roll hurt', just reminded me of something my grandfather used to say. 'Don't look at me in that tone of voice, you'll strain your brain, and deafen your eyesight!' It is amazing how little things such as this can bring back such powerful memories of childhood.

Re: Does Your Family Have its Own Terminologies?

My girls now cook most of our meals.

On the few nights I do it as a surprise they come home and say what's for dinner? I reply Mum's special! They get so excited but when I say Nan's special they demand the recipe!!

I tell them it's in my will.. I get the oh come on mum..

It's very hard to get those family recipes until someone stands next to someone older and spies..
