13 yr old boy

He is falling behind at school, he won't hung out with friends, won't talk to his family and specialist as sent a report with the combination of academic pressures, social challenges, and information processing difficulties

Hi @bobs8611

Welcome to the ReachOut Parents & Carers Community!

Thank you for your courage in sharing what has been going on for your son. It can be especially tough to see your son falling behind at school and becoming socially isolated from friends and family. Understandably, anyone would want to seek further resources and/ or support around this and I'm really happy to see that you and your family have consulted a specialist regarding your son's mental health. Are you are currently keeping in contact with the specialist? I'm also wondering if you have contacted your son's school regarding any support they can provide?

If you are looking for further professional supports for your son, Headspace can provide free and confidential chat with a trained clinician. We also have an online Youth Community that can offer peer support for young people.

I also wanted to check in on whether you have any supports for yourself at the moment? Caring for and supporting your son can be draining both mentally and physically. If you are seeking support for yourself, the Ngala Parenting Line can provide free support for parents and caregivers of children from ages 0 to 18 years of age. We also have a free Parent Coaching service that can provide advice on supporting your child.

I hope you find the support you seek here and I look forward to hearing from you.
