How do I tell my son my best friend is my partner?

I was with my husband for around 20 years. We have a 13 year old son together. About 9 months after I separated from my husband I met my current partner who is female. I am openly bisexual (to everyone except my parents) but have been in a long term heterosexual relationship up until now. I love my current partner very much and we are both in this for the long term.

She has met my son on several occasions as my "best friend". They get along really well which makes me so happy but I feel like I'm lying to him the more they interact. My partner is also putting pressure on me to tell him the truth as we have now been together for more than a year. I need to tell him we're more than just friends. I get it. But I'm scared that he might not be okay with it. I don't want him to feel embarrassed that his mum's in a same sex relationship. I don't want him to be disappointed that I've been keeping it from him either.

But... I also don't feel ready. Any tips?
