Parent and Teen Wellbeing Activity: Coping with Stress

Parent and Teen Wellbeing Activity: Coping with Stress

Every fortnight we will be posting wellbeing activities you can do with your teen!

This week's wellbeing activity is all about coping with stress and starting an open conversation between you and your teen on how you both identify signs of stress, and what strategies you use to manage and cope with stress.

Having conversations about stress is a really great way to create awareness for both teenagers and parents. These discussions can help you and your teen come up with some positives ways stress can be identified and managed in the future.

This activity will give you some key questions to think about when talking to your teen about stress, and encourage you to start a conversation!

What does stress look like?

The signs of stress take different forms for different people, and learning to understand the signs of stress for yourself, and the signs of stress in your teen may help you know when it may be time to use strategies to manage the stress.

Questions to discuss with your teen: What does stress look like for you and how do you know when you are feeling stressed/overwhelmed?

Managing stress:

Every person copes with stress differently! Have a look at the video below about self care for teens and why it is important to support teens to find ways of coping with stress.
