Hey @Mumma80 Thank you for sharing. It sounds like a stressful situation and you sound worried, rightfully so. You care about your Son a lot and he's lucky to have you.  It sounds like there are a few different things going on here and you're right that your son probably needs some support from a mental health professional, which can be difficult if he's reluctant to get that support. Has the school been able to offer you any guidance?  I'm wondering if this article here 'how to talk to your teen about vaping' would be helpful? There's also an article here 'how to talk to your teen about depression'.  It sounds like he talks to you in the car, which is understandable as it's less intimidating talking when the other person is focussed on driving. Perhaps you could pick those moments to bring up discussions about mental health and encourage him to reach out for support?  There's also parentline if you wanted to ask a counsellor for some advice. There is also headspace If your Son is grieving, it may take some time for him to come around but I encourage you to keep trying to have those conversations. Hey @Worriedmun It certainly sounds like things are stressful at the moment. Taking the first steps can be the hardest but it's important to look after yourself too, so you can look after your daughter. Mindspot have some accessible resources, however you did mention not needing more work to do and I can relate to that. Wondering if you have tried parentline for advice? Hey @Jerri Thank you for reaching out. It sounds like your daughter is really unhappy at that current school and it's good she is able to be open with you about that. It sounds like you are really caring and supportive parent and you have tried everything. School refusal is so stressful. My Son started Kindy during the pandemic and it has impacted his schooling in such a huge way. We have had a lot of school refusal and it is so awful! It sends everyone unravelling. It's not uncommon, in fact too common! You're not alone in this. ABC shared a story you can watch here   It sounds like your daughter will be much happier when she is able to change back to the original school. Do you think she will return as normal then? There can be some really wonderful alternative high schools out there, particularly if you have an artsy young person. I am located in NSW and I know of one called Korowal for example.  You did mention you read the RO content, but just popping this here incase it was missed.  I am a bit concerned about your daughters Dad and you mentioning he can be abusive.
