13 yr old son having accidents

Hi everyone- new here so I'm not sure how this works...

My 13YO adopted son has always had bedwetting issues but he's lately started having daytime ones too! He's always been good, and tries hard with this, setting reminders, changing sheets, limiting fluid. He is homeschooled by me, but we had to put him in nappies for the time being. He can't change his wet ones so I have to, which is very awkward.

Anyone got some advice? I have taken him to the doctor but they said our current strategy was fine. But he's become very shy, and is always embarrassed after an accident. Plus he's so skinny that they often fall down, which can be mortifying.

Thanks, Mx

Hey @maisie_a1

Thanks so much for joining Reach Out and sharing what's going on for you.

I'm sorry to hear about his accidents Smiley Sad. I'm wondering whether there's a medical explanation for this... you mentioned taking your son to the doctor so I'm guessing you've had that side of things checked out.

Might it be an idea to ask for a referral to a specialist?

Hi,

I am sorry that this is happening. I am a school teacher and I would say that we see this when significant life changes happen. I would say that the Coronavirus could be something along with the distance from school.

@maisie_a1 you might want to consider a tele-health appointment. I think some specialists are conducting those instead of face to face appointments at the moment.

There are conditions where the bladder can be too full from not emptying properly. This can take the form of bed wetting or day wetting despite also voiding. You can mention it at a continence clinic and ask for bladder scans and a specialist Physio.
