Tics in children advice please

Hi all,

New to the group and just wondering if anyone has had a child with tics before? We first started noticing them in our son when he was about 7 years old, he is now 11.

The recent tic he has is looking to the side with his eyes without moving his head which is then followed by a jerk of the head.

From what I have read , it does usually dissipate once kids hit puberty. I'm concerned about him being picked on at school.

Would love to know how other parents have responded to this situation.

Thanks

Re: Tics in children advice please

Hi @Ozziemum_27, thank you for sharing. I am sorry to hear that you are feeling concerned that your son might be bullied at school. That must be so difficult for you as a parent.

I am wondering if you have talked to a GP or health professional about your son's tics? They should be able to do an assessment and refer to a specialist if necessary. That way, you might be able to obtain a clearer idea of what is going on and what changes to expect as he grows older. In addition, you could also chat to a psychologist about your concerns about bullying in school and strategies to deal with that if it does arise.

Please feel welcome to let us know how you go Heart I hope that some other parents jump in and share their experience soon.
