ReachOut is going live on Facebook: Rules and Boundaries for Teens

Join us tonight when ReachOut goes live on Facebook, talking about Rules and Boundaries for teens!

Live.PNG

Boundary setting is an important part of helping your teen gain independence, remain safe and learn how to make good decisions. But setting consequences that stick, building trust and making sure you’ve covered all the bases can get pretty complicated.

Hosted by Melissa Hoyer, this series of Facebook Live videos will see us gather experts in their fields to share their perspectives on communicating with teens (and, we’ll also include some young people so you can hear directly from them, too).

In this discussion, Melissa will explore rules and boundaries with special guests dad of 5 Matt Green and psychologist Joe Tighe.

We'll be asking our experts your questions. Submit them ahead of time and join in the conversation live on the night.

Ask a question here: www.ReachOut.click/Setting-Boundaries

Our panel
🔹  Melissa is one of Australia’s most respected lifestyle commentators, speakers and editors, and has made a significant contribution in delivering quality, down-to-earth material to the Australian news and entertainment landscape.

🔹  Matt is a successful business manager, entrepreneur, copywriter, published author and divorced father of five. From anaphylaxis to x-rays, sporting success to examination stress, Matthew has been a hands-on parent helping his children to cope with whatever life has thrown at them. In 2010 he created the quirky persona of iDad and begun sharing comical, yet poignant stories of parenthood with his friends and family. Earlier this year the adventures of iDad were published on Amazon as a book.

🔹 Joe is a psychologist and PhD candidate at the Black Dog Institute and UNSW, Australia. He is particularly interested in suicide prevention, youth and men's well-being and using technologies for mental health service delivery. Joe has over 20 years international experience and helped create the world-first app (ibobbly) for Indigenous suicide prevention. Joe also sits on the ReachOut Clinical Advisory Group.

Tune in to the live video stream next Tuesday the 22nd at 5:30pm! You can find the event information here!

This panel is part 2 of 5 of ReachOut's Facebook Live videos for parents. Tune in over the next few months as we explore Mental Health, Body Image and Drugs and Alcohol with experts from ReachOut and beyond.

Hey Parents!

We completed our Facebook live series last night, finishing off with a really important topic.

Negative body image and eating disorders are something almost every young person will be exposed to in one way or another. As a complex issue, it's one that requires careful navigation from parents and family.

Click here to join  Juliette Thomson, National Helpline Manager & Psychologist at The Butterfly Foundation and father of two Gavin Holman, who’ll share their experiences with body image and eating disorders.
