@taokat wow .. Incredible; it sounds really like a completely lawless area of the internet. Well done on your strength and insight jumping into something so heavy and negative like that. I think your idea of "build me up" is amazing. It sounds like the moderators are also very challenging to work with... I wonder what kind of agencies could be contacted about this issue?
Look forward to hearing further about your article.

Yes, that does sound like an awful experience!
My newsletter appears to have been well received from health providers, local councils and even a few pollies You can have a read of it here if you like:

Thanks for your interest. I'm sorry I'm not very active on here, as I am rather busy these days meeting with people and hoping to get things happening on the ground! Starting with a film event that Collective Shout will be present at (if enough tickets sell!), a body image poster/sticker comp for schools to incorporate (hoepfully!) and Porn educator Liz Walker doing a couple of community talks for parents to get up to speed !

@taziness Yes, it's certainly been an experience!
You have been very busy. Fantastic, and thank you for your hard work.
I'll read your newsletter and join your Facebook page.

As much as I'd love to, I can't claim the idea as my own! It was actually an idea Ngaio suggested, I've just run with it. My daughter and her friend decided on the name 😊
The internet is such a difficult place to police. Reddit admin support the subreddit, and cannot understand why I would report it to them. I'm not sure who would be able to do anything about it?

Hey @taokat you definitely went into the 'belly of the beast' visiting the pages of Reddit.
I can imagine it was a pretty blaahh experience.
Don't let them dissuade you. There's a lot of exaggerated behaviour in communities like that.
They get given a lot of support to be callous and insensitive, so they respond like that no matter what the issue.
It absolutely doesn't mean the idea won't help. Because you know the kids it would help certainly won't be speaking out. Good on you!!

Thank you for the encouragement Ngaio. It's been an experience that's for sure!
I have two positive things to report. First one is that I did report the moderators of Roast Me for harrassing me in the AskReddit sub - all their comments were removed. A bit of a victory for anitbullying!
The second - and not huge - Roast Me did take up my suggestion of at least putting up place people can go to for mental health support if they need it. None of my other suggestions have been taken up but they said they will discuss raising the age limit to 18. I won't hold my breath on that one though!
Hopefully I will have the article written by the end of the week.

@taokat That's an amzing outcome!! Well done.
I'll be sharing that win with the Reach Out crew. Getting them to list support services next to something like that thread is a huge success.
Can you email me here with the page so I can follow up with more demands if they haven't added the support services?
I'll work out if I can share it with the parent's community too.
Congrats @taokat (haha, that rhymes)

@taokat well done! it's great to see someone who act upon one's belief in a rationaly way.
As for 'Roast it', I don't know. I was wondering why the youngsters would find it funny. Is it in the English culture? I remembered Dr. Seuss and other nonsense books. However, if people could tease each other in a safe environment like at home, or in a moderated classroom, it might help build resilience.

Hi @Ngaio-RO
Yes, it's definitely something. I think I'd hoped I could do more, I had a few suggestions! But actually, having those supports in the sidebar that's on each page is giving people resources right then and there if needed. That is a good thing!
I've sent through an email with the link.
Thank you 😊
