I really loved this animation from UCLA talking about the development of the teenage brain and how it figures into learning new skills but also makes teenagers more likely to take risks!
I thought the idea of encouraging teenagers to take ‘healthy risks’ like auditioning for a play or asking someone out on a date was really interesting!
Have any of you tried this idea of encouraging safe ways for your children to take risks?

Thanks for that @Mum25 - maybe it is just the way my (absolutely not teenage) brain works but I really find it useful to think about what is happening in our kids' brains and how that impacts behaviour!

Really great video @Nick-RO! I'm like you - I like to know what makes our teens tick the way they do.
My daughter has taken a big risk auditioning for an acting company after a couple of years in her room with not a lot of human contact. She had her first class this last Saturday, and was so nervous but pushed through and had a great time
