I hate winter! Long nights, short days, cold, miserable, no swimming!!!

Yesterday and today are the days that I hate winters: at the turn of the season, I am usually not so prepared! And my new place is much colder than my old one with tall trees blocking sunshine at the back and study south facing.

However, once I pulled out heavy sweaters and blankets and get myself prepared, I actually like winter. Winter is the time I cuddle up and read books. I have just borrowed a couple of books on psychology( memory, mental health etc.)from the new library.

I hate winter.  I find it hard to get motivated and those long cold, dull and miserable days leave me wanting summer to return as soon as possible.

In saying that, both of my teens play winter sports so its early mornings Saturday and Sunday, standing in the rain cheering them on from the sidelines.  Training three nights a week listening to them when they finish saying how warm it is.  Me grumbling how I should be in a nice warm place, how I can't feel my feet or hands, even though I'm rugged up waiting for the snow to start. Yet I wouldn't change it because I see their enjoyment and commitment to being part of a team. Seeing them socialising, exercising and learning new life skills that make them the unique and wonderful humans they are.

But I still hate winter.

I love winter
Lovely thick home made soups, hearty casseroles. Nothing like snuggling into the recliner with a good book or movie to watch..

I use this as my " my" time.

oh, yeah! That's one of the problems I found in Australia: while children are doing sports or music or other things, there's usually no business handy and affordable for parents to do something or help us enjoy while watching our kids.

I Love winter! Love our fire! Love making slow cooked curries etc! I'm a pom so I don't really feel the cold too much here! Don't enjoy all the snotty noses and colds however!
