Yes it’s been really hard. I have my own psychiatrist & psychologist but seeing it through the eyes of a parent is different. I guess her being in emotional pain is heart wrenching & I find myself wanting to protect her but I can’t. Today she is at a day program & hopefully these days will be beneficial. Yes I’m concerned about her when I’m not home with her etc. this week has been extra difficult for her as she’s dealing with trauma. Today was not a good day for her & she expressed suicidal tendencies!! So now I’m extra alert! I guess when this happens & you don’t know your options on who to call etc, it’s really tough as I can only help her so much! Also since I also have a mental illness I know the frustrations of getting help especially on a weekend or anytime really. We have found that family members don’t know what to say or ask. We didn’t let too many people know only close friends & family because no one knows how to act with us etc. so yes that has been lonely especially for my husband as he has no supports. I have a psych & psychologist who have been great so I get to debrief with them. I just struggle with my daughters moods because I can’t make things better!! ... View more

I’m doing ok. My daughter is adjusting. She will attend day program at the hospital starting early jan so hopefully that will get her up & about. She’s lost a lot of friends this year due to lack of understanding by both parties so she’s not going out much. I try & get her to do activities like baking etc but shes starting to struggle. Sorry took so long to get back to you. My daughter has been home for nearly 2 weeks. She is adjusting but is bored! The hospital admission was a build up from the last few years. Her teenage life has been rough & she’s been In & out of 2 secondary schools. But they believe she may have adhd which I never saw in her early childhood. Yes I saw it in last few years but thought it was anxiety/depression. Shells had a few traumAs in life some being from my own mental health journey & being away from her in her early years because I was unwell. I know she needs to process & go through all this in her own time but I worry. She will be doing day program at hospital starting early jan. so hopefully that will get her up & about.
