Thankyou... we are still going pretty well. It is warm here now so it’s hard as after school it’s too hot to go outside. I brought out the uno cards the other night. He was horrified, but we had fun. He has definitely tried to sneak that phone back into his room at night. I did let him go one night as I was seriously just done with everything. The next day he was snakey and really rude and short. A quick reminder as to why I made the rule in the first place.

Hi, I really feel for you, and this mum gig is hard some days. We have over the past 3 weeks implemented strict rules in relation to internet and phone usage and it’s been amazing. (Not with out mister 14 being very trying at times too) One thing I have noticed is that with making a rule of no phones in bed rooms at night. His behaviour and mood has improved as he isn’t tired. As much as I’d like to think he was sleeping ok before, who would know!! Just an idea Good luck☺️

Oh no offence taken at all!!! Yes no I agree, all baby steps. He did ask me this morning what the rules are with the PlayStation tonight. I’m just hoping to keep him busy. I have brought yeast to make pizza from scratch for tea... oh dear... lol And we have sheep so I need some help with them Time will tell. Have an awesome day

So, I need to update you, as I’m pretty chuffed. 14yo got off the plane Sunday morning from dads... everything seemed cool I let him go a couple of hours before even bring up the whole internet thing. I said to him “ we need to talk re’ internet” He got sulky and said “ I know, dad’s already talked to me” We went over everything New rules are PlayStation every second day Max two hrs at a time. No phones in bedroom at night No phones or internet before school And max 4 hrs on the weekend No technology after 7:30 He said “ I want to talk about it” I said “ it’s not open for discussion mate, just is what it is” He went to beds in a huff. I was dreading the morning. Guess what!!! All rules have been followed ( I know we are only 3 days in) And he’s even come for a walk with me twice!!! And talked to me!! I am truely stoked xxxxxx

@taokat if I had a dollar for everytime I have to remind my 14 and 12 yo to brush their teeth.... Because apparently, it's a new thing!!

I guess I'm worried that if I push it too far, he'll just go and live with dad(who is 600km away😁) I have spoken about my concern re this with his dad. And his dad has addressed it, pretty much saying ( if you don't work this out with mum. Are you really going to leave your friends, school etc just because mums changed the rules?!?) I am super lucky. He was a **bleep**ty husband, but a great ex😉 I have spoken to 14 yo today about maybe after school going to the local pool or house of bounce place with his mates, and I'd be happy to drop them all home. Thought that might be a good distraction

He is at his dads atm. But I hAve spoken to his dad. And even though we divorced 10 years ago. He backs me 100%. His dad has spoken to him about my concerns and given me the heads up that I'm not quiet the 14 yo fav person atm, but he will still back me. We are in school holidays atm so I won't see him until Sunday. Your right though. It's absolutely that self doubt....

️Thankyou. That makes me feel better. I have spoken to him about being allowed on alternative days so that home work can get done. And only allowed to have time on the weekends, depending on how much time he has spent either offline or with us or his peers on the weekends. You've alrready made me feel better.

My 14 year old has become very mouthy and disrespectful. His whole world revolves around his phone and the PlayStation. To the point where he doesn't want to go to family outings any more. And generally if it's not on a screen he's not interested. We are a family of four, 14 yo 12 yo stepdad and myself. Stepdad is very old fashioned and doesn't cope with technology at all. So it's placing strain on our relationship as well. We have all lived together for 6 years with hardly any conflict until the past 3 months. I have talked to both kids explaining that the Internet hours are to be limited. My 14 year old was in tears saying that he will be missing out. And when he gets to school he can't connect with his mates as they are all talking about what they were doing online the night before. I guess I'm just after reassurance. Feel like I'm loosing my boy
