Re: Topical Tuesday: Positive Affirmations / Mantras

My personal favourite mantra which was given to me in a card as a supporter of Youth off the streets is "Never ever give up on yourself. You are worth fighting for."  I completely understand where you are coming from in regards to grasping technology . I have recently completed a BA in Community development via correspondence and assignments and tasks that would be smashed out quickly by my younger peers such as powerpoints and voice recordings took me a lot of time and frustration as I had to basically teach myself how to do it. Nothing can compare though to graduating and receiving my degree, so stick with it! Also in regards to your past experience , unfortunately I have also learned that bullying does not stop in high school and we are faced with them in the adult world. The way we take away their power is by being in control of our responses to them. Noone has the right or the power to diminish your self worth if you do not allow it. You are amazing to be changing you path to something that is better. You have got this!

Re: Topical Tuesday: Positive Affirmations / Mantras

Hi there!!

I would like to say a big thanks to all of you who posted lots of positive thoughts my way but I write with bad news I am afraid.  I went in to work yesterday and just felt like a fool!!  The others in the class were asked to take part in telephone scenarios whilst I was asked to go to the canteen and refill everyone's water bottles.  !!  When your gut instinct tells you something, it is usually correct.  For the last 4 weeks I have had the distinct feeling that our Trainer did not like me.  She seemed to spend a lot of her time with the younger members of the class and whenever they needed help she would sit by them and show them on their PC how to do certain things and 9 times out of 10 I was told to "refer to your manual" which was complicated in itself.  Yesterday when I told her I just wanted to leave, she went to get one of the Managers who stood and spoke about me as though I wasnt even there, then they took my Pass Badge and escorted me from the premises.  I felt they couldnt get rid of me quickly enough!!  All this to work in a Call Centre!!  The trainer actually stood with a big smile on her face as she was saying goodbye.  My class mates could see that I was becoming somewhat withdrawn and so just decided to stop speaking to me.  I had to sit and listen to them, along with the Trainer, laughing and joking about how well they were all doing and how good it was to see everything "start to come together".  I really did just want the ground to open up! Now I have now job, I dont know what to do and my confidence is a low as it has ever been!  XXXX

@Madmacca. Sorry to hear about your awful experience. Please don't let that kill your confidence. You can achieve anything you set your heart to do, no matter what anyone says. It starts from within. If you have a goal you set to achieve, please don't let anyone squash your dream. Why not try somewhere else.

@Madmacca don’t let them get you down. It is there problem...their anti-social behaviour not you. As hard as it is, you are better off working somewhere else that appreciates your skills. Be strong and try somewhere else. It is their loss.

Re: Topical Tuesday: Positive Affirmations / Mantras

Hey @Madmacca, that sounds like a really terrible experience where you have been treated unfairly. We really like to give people the benefit of the doubt, even if our instinct is strong. I am sorry that this is something that you are going through but as @Mum2018 says, it does not sound like a really healthy and happy workplace to be apart of. I just wanted to encourage you to create your own thread as well so it can receive more support (you can tag members you would like to respond), as this area is mainly for positive affirmations and could trigger other people. We can even move your current posts so you don't have to start over.

In other news, I am wondering what you have been doing lately to help with the impact that this has understandably had on you?

Re: Topical Tuesday: Positive Affirmations / Mantras

Hey @Madmacca sorry to hear what you are going through I agree with some of the previous comments that it's probably not a healthy environment to work in. I'm sure another workplace will appreciate you. I agree it's also harder to grasp some computer skills I also have trouble myself picking up things . I remember a few years back I had a job cold calling people selling a product it was very stressful and unprofessional. The boss had a peephole to spy on us in the office to make sure we were working, and the toilet light had a timer lol.Hang in there and I'm sure you will find a better fitting position. Your new company will benefit from the maturity and life skills you bring x

I found this today in my search for graphics for my own projects. Although it's not a positive affirmation as such, I really like it because I was able to quickly identify words that I could attribute to positive qualities in myself.

I've enlarged it, printed it out and stuck it on my mirror so I can look at it when I wake up and before I go to bed.

@taokat I love that infograph! Very positive words, and an easy way to identify with positive traits in yourself.

Another mantra I love:

Re: Topical Tuesday: Positive Affirmations / Mantras

Also someone said to me yesterday that by doing things by myself it should toughen me up, I disagree I want to feel and be vulnerable isn't this how to let love in? Who wants to be hard and tough. Let's aim to be strong while being loving, caring and empathic ❤️
