Yes it sounds quite extreme to have him be alienated so quickly into being excluded. How is he sitting with all of it as he speaks to you about it? It definitely sounds like you want to be moving towards (and back too?) a peaceful relationship between the two of you. That is hard to do when emotions are running high and this may take more than a simple conversation. You did the right thing in taking her back so she is getting the best help/support from the professionals. @TiredMum You do sound completely exhausted. First, I hope you are managing to look after yourself in the midst of trying to work out the best support for your son. Being 16 is not easy, let alone having to overcome all the obstacles of mental health. It's a tricky area of health to tackle at any age when trying to find the "best fit" with practitioners etc. It maybe your son finding the right person to connect with and feel supported by - sometimes it's likened to test driving cars before you choose which one it is going to be.   Teenage boys can be difficult to get much out of I realise, but how are your conversations with him about how he is managing? Thankfully, there is a lot of support out there in our community - I would recommend the Kids Helpline (1800 55 1800/https://kidshelpline.com.au) or Suicide Call Back Service (1300 659 467/https://www.suicidecallbackservice.org.au) if they are up to talking about the issues, and for information there is a wealth of it on their websites. Hey there @dazzlejazz good luck in seeing another psychologist. Medications and their effects can sometimes be the most helpful or the biggest hinderance to a teen's mental health. I always like to think of a GP as the centre of each of our health - do you think you could get in touch and consult with your son's GP about this?
